—Welcome to My Class – Mr. Garry Foraker—

My Classroom At NFC Academy

I was born in 1947.  I was “born again” (John 3:3) in the third grade when I went to Dixie Baptist Church daily vacation Bible school and learned about the love of Jesus.  I was told how to be saved and I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.  I trust Him every day and have been trusting Him for 67 years.

My wife’s name is Emily and we have three grown children, Amy, Laura and David.  They have given us 14 grandchildren.

I graduated high school in 1965; went on to Bible college and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Religious Education.  I went on to Bob Jones University and pursued another education degree; however, I was drafted and so I decided to join the US Army. This was in 1971.  Emily and I were married in 1971, and spent the rest of my tour together.

When I left the army in 1974, I went on to study at Central Michigan University, using my GI bill to help pay for my classes.  I had a full-time job and took one class at a time until I finished my studies. I finished my Masters degree in 1975, with a degree in Personnel Management.

Professionally, I have held many offices and in many different places in the United States.  When I left the US Army in 1974, I worked as an Admissions counselor for Detroit College of Business, Pontiac extension.  Within a month, I was asked to open the Flint extension of DCB.  I was the Director of DCB until 1977; worked as a sales rep for one year; went to Pensacola Christian College as a teacher, admin helper, then returned to Michigan and became a Financial Aid Administrator for the Control Data Institute in Southfield, Michigan.

At CDI, I was promoted to Manager of Administration and stayed there until 1981.

In 1981, I was appointed the Director of Philadelphia Control Data Institute, Philadelphia, PA.

In 1983, I was promoted to the National Educational Finance Manager position for all 33 CDIs in the United States. I was headquartered in Bloomington, MN.

In 1985, I went to Yakima, Washington, as the Director of the Trend College of Business; was promoted to Regional Manager for six Trend Colleges in Washinton and Oregon.

I left Trend Colleges to return to Ohio to take over Southern Ohio College in Tallmadge, Ohio.  While in Ohio, I was promoted to Vice-President of Canada locations. I travelled weekly from home in Ohio to go into Canada to seek out new school purchases for my company.

When my company closed operations in Canada, I went to Michiana College in South Bend, Indiana.  When my Pastor died while on the mission field, I felt the Lord wanted me in full-time Christian school work.  I went to New Jersey to take over a small Christian school; my long-time friend was the Pastor of the church and I stayed there until 1993.

I left New Jersey and went back to Michigan to become the Principal of Capitol City Baptist School, in Lansing Michigan.  After three years at Capitol City, I felt led to start my own Christian school in Waterford, Michigan.

The Lord called me to move to Florida, in 1998, to become the Principal of Temple Christian School in Lakeland, Florida. While in Florida, I became a teacher at North Florida Christian School, in Tallahassee, Florida.

Since 2004, I have been associated with North Florida Christian School and now the Christian Academy, to the present year of 2025.
